Divorce

Divorce is life changing and it presents challenges. Ending a commitment that began with hope and promise can take an emotional toll on couples and their children. You must make vital decisions about your children’s care and custody, including how you will financially support them. Decisions must be made regarding your house. Will you sell it or will it remain a home for one spouse and the children? If you feel attached to your property, dividing things up can seem unsettling or even overwhelming. On top of these factors, you’re in the legal system, a system that is unfamiliar and full of confusing jargon.

The good news is: we care about you and we can help get you through this tough time. Our legal skills, our compassion, our respect and our sincere desire to help are on your side. Our family law attorney will work with you to overcome your divorce challenges.

Family Law Attorney

Your Family.
Your Life.

Many people’s lives revolve around family, and while divorce is one aspect of family law, there are also other aspects to consider. Prior to marriage, you and your prospective spouse may decide you want to set boundaries for the property you are both bringing into the relationship. We can help you devise a premarital agreement.

If domestic violence becomes an issue in your relationship, you may need a protective order to keep you safe. Wills and probate are also family matters, and we can help you with powers of attorney, living wills or handle probate for your estate.

On the brighter side, perhaps you and your spouse are looking to adopt a child. We can set up the legal structure for you to welcome this new member into your family.

Family Law & Divorce Lawyer

Thomas Little

My life was full of diverse experiences before settling into the practice of law. After growing up in Kilgore, Texas, I attended Texas A&M, where I played football as the 12th Man on the kickoff team for 3 seasons. I received my B.A. degree in Political Science. After working one legislative session in the Chief Clerk’s Office of the Texas House of Representatives, I enlisted in the Infantry in the Army. I was selected to go to Officer Candidate School and was commissioned as an Armor Officer. I served our country, was stationed in Germany, and completed one deployment to Kosovo as a tank platoon commander reaching the rank of Captain prior to my honorable discharge.

After leaving the Army, I felt drawn to pursue a career in the business world. I earned my MBA from Texas A&M and then became a licensed project management professional while working for a Big Four consulting firm.

While I have always had a zest for life, I still had not found my niche, and my life took another direction when I discovered I had a passion for practicing law. I used the GI Bill to earn my law degree from St. Mary’s University School of law and became a trained mediator.

I’ve lived an exciting and storied life with highlights that include playing college football, jumping out of airplanes at the U.S. Army Airborne School and traveling around the world. I ran with the bulls in Pamplona, Spain; attended the Oktoberfest three consecutive times in Munich, Germany; and have been scuba diving around the world in the Adriatic Sea, the Red Sea, the Bali Sea, the Caribbean and the Pacific Ocean. Now most of my free time is spent being a full-time father, becoming an expert level Disney World traveler and coaching youth sports.

I contacted Mr. Little regarding an enforcement order from a divorce case. We had a candid conversation about my expectation of him being a good steward of my funds. I had already been taken advantage of by the first attorney I hired and I wanted to set forth clear expectations this time. He took the case without hesitation! Generally, an enforcement is fairly clear cut; however, the respondent filed a counter suit which lead to mediation (again). At that point, I did not feel the overall monetary gain would be worth the expense and I was ready to drop the case. Mr. Little was kind and considerate in his plea to move forward with the case. He selected a phenomenal mediator and we prevailed during that proceeding. We settled for more than I ever expected to gain! I highly recommend Mr. Little, he is kind, considerate, and capable.

If you’re looking for an amazing team to have in your corner you can stop looking. Give Thomas a call. From the first phone conversation with his fabulous, kind, encouraging paralegal Sharron to the days following the final decree I have been taken care of with such care. They both went above and beyond during one of the most difficult seasons of my life. There were so many times when I was ready to tap out due to the relentless, unnecessary intimidation of my ex. They talked and supported me through the process to make sure I was protected and my rights were honored. Please give them a call if you want to be represented with class and knowledge of what you deserve. My case was complicated with assets and a business to boot and they made sure I was not bullied anymore. I’m so glad it’s over but I’m kind of sad I won’t talk to them as much anymore. Forever grateful. They even follow up with a post divorce checklist and have followed up several times to check in to make sure things in settlement were being done. Don’t waste your time on nickel and dime you to death lawyers, these guys are a class act.

Honestly, if you are reading this review just stop and call Thomas. You won’t find a more compassionate person who truly cares about you. In our meetings, Thomas didn’t have a cell phone or computer. Just pen and paper. He listened without interruption. There was no rush. There was no judgment. He was totally invested in me from start to finish. His paralegal, Sharron, is amazing! Divorce is extremely emotional and she gave me encouragement, hope, and believed in me. I am extremely grateful to them both!!

EXCEPTIONAL LAWYER AND PARALEGAL TEAM: Thomas and Sharron helped me with my divorce in 2017. They were kind, professional, and thorough. Thomas is a gentlemen, but he is a shark, on your behalf, while in the courtroom. However, he does it in such a professional, charismatic manner, he has the respect of all his opposing councils and the judges and court staff. He did such a great job, that when I had to modify my custody order, I went back to Thomas, even though he was not in my company’s legal insurance’ network. My son is too important to risk on the services of a “free” attorney. I paid out of pocket to make sure it was done right.

Thomas was great and super helpful! I attempted to go forward with my divorce online and it was a mess. I contacted Thomas and he helped alleviate so much stress from an already extremely stressful situation. He allowed me to tell him what direction I wanted to go and he gave me his opinions and advice without stepping on my toes. He answered the many questions I had and always had me and my daughter’s best interest at heart. Definitely recommend Little Family Law!

The Little Family Law Firm represented me in my divorce and while it seemed overwhelming to me initially, they simplified the entire process, thus eliminating my concerns. Mr. Little and his staff was quick, efficient, professional, and responsive in helping expedite this legal matter. I highly recommend Thomas Little and his staff. I will be looking to work with his firm again with estate planning.
